Chamber Meeting Minutes, February 4th

Business Meeting
February 4, 2014

Meeting called to order at 5:30 PM. Present were Chamber Board members Lisa Johnson, Carol Langer, Members Josh Kotter, Pam Eaton, Carolyn Green, June Dudek and Director Bea Lou Hardin.

The members welcomed Josh Kotter to our Chamber family. Josh is the new Hospital Administrator.

Carol Langer made the motion to accept the minutes of the January Executive Board Meeting, second by Pam Eaton. Motion passed.

Motion by Carol Langer that the January Treasures Report be accepted, second by June Dudek. Motion passed. Bea Lou made note that we paid the IRS another $751.00 for reinstating our Non Profit status.  Bea Lou informed the members present, that we have received notification from the IRS that your Chamber has been granted reinstatement of our non-profit 501-C-6 status. Thanks to Carol Child for her hard work and persistence and donations.
A new computer hard drive has been purchased as the old one was dying. Carol Langer made the motion that the old hard drive be given to Jim Dudek to cleanup and donate to a needy student at the Lakota College. Lisa Johnson second. Motion passed.

June Dudek made the motion to purchase 497 post cards from Roxie Gatewood at .10 cents each for a total of $49.70. Carol Langer second. Motion passed.
The post cards will be added to our stock of Gordon Postcards and are available for purchase to all restaurants, motels, and visitors stopping/shopping businesses.

The 2014 Budget as passed by the Board of Directors was presented with discussion of Chamber Fund raiser (s) for the Member Appreciation Party and the Retail Committee doing 2 large promotions a year instead of several small promotions. It was decided that the Chamber would sponsor a Spring Event, Fall Festival & Parade of Lights as the main promotions as well as the Sheridan County Fair Parade and the Member Appreciation Party.
Discussion was held concerning Contract Labor for the Director. Bea Lou requested that the Chamber pay ½ of the rent on the building and ½ of the Internet bill instead of a wage.

Josh Kotter made the motion that the 2014 budget be ratified, Carolyn Green second. Motion passed.

Bea Lou reported that the Membership Appreciation Party was well attended, 145 of the 153 reservations by Members and their employees were present. The comments were all good and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and are looking forward to next year. Thank you to the Retail Committee and American legion, Post 34.
Bea Lou informed the members present that she will be in and out of the hayfield this year and has arranged for a volunteer to keep the office open as well as take care of her store, Treasures. Bea Lou asked forgiveness if she showed up at Chamber Meetings in her haying clothes.

The Chamber will be welcoming Joe's Wireless with a ribbon cutting February 13th at Noon.

Lisa Johnson made the motion to adjourn, second by Carol Langer.   Motion passed.
Meeting adjourned at 6:30PM

The next Chamber Meeting will be March 4th at 5:30 in the Chamber Office.
