Office Report – November 2015

November has been busy with calls and e-mails for Visitor Packets. If this is any sign of the summer to come we will have many visitors from across the US, Canada and Europe. Jean Hess and Bea Lou accompanied Rich Hoffman to a Sheridan County Tourism Board meeting. Rich is a Board member of the Sheridan County Tourism Board. Jean and Bea Lou gave the Tourism Board a proposal and request for financial help to sustain the Chamber Office/Visitors Center. The Gordon Chamber/Visitors Center and Store is the only Office open full time in the County and we field many inquiries for the entire County. The Sheridan County Tourism Board voted to help us maintain the Office. We thank them and will do our very best to continue to promote Hay Springs, Rushville, Ellsworth, Gordon and the entire County.  It would be very helpful if all the Communities would provide information to the Visitors Center about happenings or any brochures they may have. We would be happy to provide any of the brochures we stock to these communities, as well.

The Chamber Office has begun its winter hours - Monday through Friday 9AM to 4PM.

The Office Report and financial Report were given, Chuck Hinn made the motion to accept the Office & Financial Reports, and the motion was second by Joni Elwood. Motion passed.

The Parade of Lights will be held December 5th at 7PM. The time is later than last year because of two games at the High School that afternoon and hopefully those attending will stay for the Parade. Joni is busy registering floats. The floats will be lined up starting at 6PM at Gordon Livestock and will travel by the nursing home and hospital as they do every year after the parade down Main Street.  Joni asked that Floats DO NOT throw Candy from the floats as it is dark and can be dangerous for children. If a float desires to give something out, PLEASE have someone walking next to your float to give treats out.
