Office Report – December 2015
December has been busy with the Parade of Lights, and Christmas preparation. The parade of lights was fantastic as usual, Joni and Chuck did a wonderful job organizing and coordinating the parade. Thank You for all your hard work! It was wonderful to see the streets so full of people on that Saturday. It was great that Christmas for Care and the Methodist Ladies had their Craft Shows, the Head Start Parent Group served soup to shoppers, The Rodeo Royalty served coffee and hot chocolate, the businesses had open houses, the businesses decorated their windows and stores - everything was just perfect for a wonderland of Christmas lights! It is my understanding that Chadron had their parade of Lights the same night and only had 13 floats and another town having theirs only had 3 floats while we were blessed with 20 absolutely awesome floats! Way to go!!! Thanks to Shelley Beguin for making fliers that told what all was going on and getting them passed out during the games at the High School.
The Chamber Store was busy and had some very nice sales this month. We have some new product, Junes Cornbread mix, boxed greeting cards, Mari Sandoz books to name a few.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Bea Lou has accepted a job at the Gordon Clinic. She will be starting work in a couple of weeks. Therefore, she will be keeping up the bookwork etc. on evenings and Saturdays.
The Board of Directors have to meet and decide on the 2016 Budget.
Your Membership Drive will begin in January, so look for Mike to be visiting with you about your member dues.
We will be doing a Ribbon Cutting for “Gush Water” as soon as we are able to set a time and day.
Our member Appreciation Party will be held the end of February or first of March. We look forward to this special time of fellowship among members.
The Chamber Office has begun its winter hours - Monday through Friday 9AM to 4PM.
Bea Lou Hardin

The Office Report and financial Report were given, Courtney Ostrander made the motion to accept the Office & Financial Reports, and the motion was second by Maureen Hess. Motion passed.

Bea Lou told the group that the Membership drive has begun and the Board of Directors are working on the 2016 budget. Bea Lou also stated that she paid 1 year rent on the office January 1st. Thanks to the Sheridan County Tourism Board. This Chamber Office is no longer just Gordon Chamber but the Sheridan County Visitors Center as we are the only Office open full time. We have brochures that we will gladly share with Ellsworth, Rushville & Hay Springs if they will just let us know they want them. Our goal, now, is to prove that this office is truly a Visitors Center for the County. We must keep records of packets sent out and visitors and locals that use the Visitors Center to obtain information.
Bea Lou asked when we could have a Ribbon Cutting for Gush. The group was informed by Jordan that the Lions Club are having a tour on January 12th at 4:30 PM and the group thought that would be a great time to have the Ribbon Cutting. Bea Lou is to check with Gary Ruse to see if that would work for him.
The Member Appreciation Party will be held late February or early March. Rachel asked if anyone had ideas about food. A Taco Bar was suggested. We have 50 pounds of hamburger donated by open Range Beef.
Rachel also reported that the Spring Junkers Jaunt will be in April or May, depending on the weather, the 2016 harvest Festival is always the weekend before Halloween which makes it October 28 & 29.
Bea Lou reported that a member has volunteered to learn the Chamber/Chamber Store bookkeeping in case of an emergency.
Bea Lou apologized for not having enough Chairs, Maureen Hess thought she had some folding chairs she could donate. The office now has a microwave that was given by Stanley Hardin.
Courtney Ostrander made the motion to adjourn at 6 PM, the motion was second by Jordon Heuther. Motion passed.
